The ‘Gay Brain Drain’ consequently plaguing India is an intricate interaction among the forces of societal norms, legal frameworks, and individual introspection. This article scrutinises the different complications that people from the LGBTQ+ community come across on a daily basis and delves into various factors that force them to migrate, leaving an impactful debate about the economy’s pool of talents, socio-cultural repercussions, and ultimately the gay brain drain. With the help of statistics, this piece aims to highlight the dire need for policies of inclusion and socio-cultural transformation to control the flow of talented queers and foster the development of an accepting society. The process of ‘brain drain’, i.e., some of the finest brains, is leaving the country, not because of a lack of possible opportunities but because of social marginalisation and brutal prejudice.
