Journalism Intern

The Viyug is a foreign affairs media based in India. We combine the rigour of a think tank and journalistic outlook of a newspaper to tell unique yet powerful stories on global affairs. We publish in-depth data-driven analysis, commentaries and authoritative insights on events shaping our world. The editorial division is looking for qualified candidates to join the team as ‘Journalist Intern.’

Note: This position has a temporary nature and carries, in principle, no expectation of renewal. This is also a volunteer/unpaid internship. Internship completion certification will be provided at the end of successful completion of internship.

Introduction of the Post

As a Journalist Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful research initiatives, and keep our readers informed of the global affairs and gain valuable insights into the complex fabric of international relations.

Responsibilities

• Research and draft 1 or 2 articles a week each ranging between 900 – 1200 words and at max 1500 words.
• Contribute leads to weekly newsletters and ideas for podcasts.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure clarity, accuracy and adherence to Web edition’s publishing standards.
• Provide supporting functions in planning and execution of weekly seminars, workshops, and other live audio events.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited University/College in academic disciplines of political science, international relations, journalism, defence & strategic studies, security studies, geopolitics and similar fields.
• Professional fluency in English is required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent written and verbal skills, with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
